英語を英語として読む力

英語をそのまま英語で読む事ができれば、読むスピードも変わります。当たり前ですが、文法を日本語で解釈する教育を受けているので、英語を読む際、皆さんは自然と頭の中で訳して読んでると思います。英語から日本語に。この時当然ですが、脳内で情報を処理するためのプロセスタイムがかかります。ですので、500字程度の英文を読むのにすごく時間がかかる。

解決法あります。

英語をそのまま、英語で理解すればよいのです！いくつか例を出しますので一緒に考えてみましょう！皆さんの年齢が把握できないので、これがいい題材か否かわかりませんが、イーグルスのホテルカリフォルニアって曲ご存知ですよね。めちゃくちゃ有名なので知らいない人はいないと思いますが。

一応参考までに-これです！

以下は、音楽評論紙からとったパラグラフですが、ホテルカリフォルニアのリリック(歌詩）の解釈について語られているものですが、さっそく”訳すのではなく”理解していきましょう。しょっぱなから、分かりずらいの行きます！

まず、上記文章をコピペしてワードかんかに落としてください。
難しそうな単語から赤くしますね。

こんな感じです。重要なのは、頭から意味が取れたところできる事、関係代名詞節、副詞節とか形容詞節とか解釈が難しいだけで、英語で考えるうえで意味のあまりない文法は考えなくてよいです。
